After seeing the film KONY2012, I have decided to take part in making him visible. To all my readers, let us all join in this quest to make Ugandan cult and militia leader, indicted war criminal and International Criminal Court fugitive Joseph Kony globally known in order to have him arrested by December 2012, the time when the campaign expires.
You maybe asking why such a fuss on him is spreading... here is the answer.
Joseph Rao Kony (born sometime between July and September of 1961) is the head of the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), a Ugandan guerrilla group. While initially enjoying strong public support, the LRA allegedly turned on its own supporters, supposedly to "purify" the Acholi people and turn Uganda into a theocracy.
The bulk of Kony's foot soldiers were children. While estimates of the number of children conscripted since 1986 vary, some put the figure as high as 104,000. Kony has been accused by government entities of ordering the abduction of children. When abducting the children, Kony and his army often killed their family and neighbors, thus leaving the children with little choice but to fight for him and be child-soldiers and the abducted girls to become child-sex slaves. These child-soldiers are often tasked to mutilate their captives even children and to kill their own parents.
Kony was indicted for war crimes and crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, in 2005 but has evaded capture. The LRA operates in Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic and South Sudan.
